Quick Friends

When people travel, they inevitably meet people along the way that they connect with.  If we are open enough to talk to strangers, we'll  most certainly meet new friends and that's the beauty of travel ~ it creates a physical distance from everything we know yet it bridges a gap between ourselves and other cultures/people bringing us closer to others and in turn ourselves.

Quick friends are those that you meet while traveling. They are the ones you meet just on a whim, almost by fate if you will. You discover you have so much in common although you live worlds apart but in the moment, you find yourself in the same place at the same time and voila! you've got yourself a quick friend. You discuss things with this complete stranger who you feel as though you've known forever that you wouldn't dare share with even  your family members. You're connected through travel and maybe it's the anonymity of traveling that allows us to let our guard down and simply BE; whatever it is, you have realized that this quick friend will most definitely become a life long friend. You've shared traveling moments together and everyone knows that traveling moments go down into the archives of our memories as some of the best.

I have met some of the most fascinating people  on my travels ~ some who have become lifelong friends. I have a global base camp of friends that connect me with worlds that are clear across the planet, uniting us as humans and sharing the beauty of their existence in their particular corner of the world. It's a beautiful thing to know that I have "family" members all across the globe and that I'd be received as family if I chose to visit them ~ and the same can be said for them. Mi casa es su casa certainly applies to all of my quick friends turned life long amigos.

Traveling is so much more than just taking a trip and getting away from it all. It's more than going to a hotel and sipping on fruity drinks and bathing in tanning oil. It's more than just the adventure. It's about being an ambassador to travel and the change that it can bring about between our fellow humans if only we allow ourselves to be open to those who await us and for those who we await. We'll never know who we meet on our travels but rest assured you will meet people who will touch your soul forever. You will meet people who inspire you. You will be that person who inspires others. In your travels, you will invariably be an ambassador to your country, to your state, to yourself~ that's a pretty powerful role to take on~ share yourself with others on your journeys and be prepared for the beautiful after math that enfolds.
