Just what is wellness travel?

The word "wellness tourism" often times evokes multiple thoughts in our heads because what wellness means for one person, it certainly doesn't mean the same thing to the next.
By definition, "wellness tourism" means, "Travel to pursue activities that maintain or enhance health and wellbeing."  Some of us may be involved in wellness related practices in our daily lives such as yoga, running, meditation, eating well, etc. Others of us are looking for a jump start to our lives that are void of such practices. We are searching to align ourselves with an intense immersion into the world of wellness so that we can bring our new found passion back home and continue the practice.

There are many ways to take your upcoming vacation to the  next level by incorporating elements of wellness into your days. Many more resorts are offering on-sight yoga classes and a variety of other wellness related activities as well as world renown spas. Perhaps you're more of an active wellness enthusiast and what maintains your "health and wellbeing" is more of an adrenaline filled adventure. When we involve ourselves in activities that make our hearts soar and that fuel our passions, we are indeed maintaining and improving our well-being, our mental well being! Maybe you don't really know what you need but you do know that you just need to get away and focus on you. Working with a Travel Ambassador like myself will help you uncover activities and destinations that pique your interest and gets you inspired to pursue wellness redefined just for you.

I like to think of travel in and of itself as a way to overall well-being. Travel breaks up the monotony of every day life, it introduces us to new people and new ways of living, it challenges our core self, it relaxes us and lets us simply "be" in the moment. Imagine if you will, if you set the intention that you will take a trip intended for well-being how completely rejuvenated you will feel upon your return.
There are always trends in wellness travel based upon what the majority of these types of travelers are pursuing. Trends are always great but the recipe for your personal wellbeing is as unique as you are. That being said, here are a few trends to consider when thinking about wellness travel in the upcoming year. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/susie-ellis/top-5-wellness-travel-tre_b_9020802.html

Enjoy a Temazcal, similar to a sauna but infused with herbs and run by a healer or a shaman.
When you are ready for something different in travel and you really want to focus on your own personal well-being, come talk to me. Part of what fires me up as a Travel Ambassador is helping people become all that they are intended to be by helping them use travel as a catalyst for change and growth.

My ending message to you : don't get intimidated by the concept of wellness travel as meaning something intended for people who are already guru's in the arena of wellness. Allow yourself to give back to yourself and honor all that you have done and who you have become. Set an intention for continual personal growth and overall mental and physical well being by nurturing your souls calling. This, my friends is wellness travel.
